Newest Family Member

This is the newest member of our family. It is a Greek tortoise, but we are not sure if it is a male or a female. Its name is lightening. It is about 5-6 inches long and very entertaining. It is quite fast for a turtle.

Maddie roasting marshmallows on Saturday. We had a hot dog roast for dinner.

We had a primary talent show on Friday. Maddie memorized the poem "Footprints in the Sand." She was quite nervious when she said it so I had to help her a bit.

Good job Maddie! We are so proud of you, you did awesome! You must take after your dad! We like the turtle too, we would love to get one, maybe when we get a house. Lightning doesn't sound like the usual name for a turtle, I guess I'll have to check him out when I come visit!

WOW! Maddie is smarter and braver than Grandpa. Wish I could have been there. Wish I could have been there for the camp fire also. Grandpa loves camp fires.

We're just glad the newest member of your family right now is a turtle and not Witnie! We'll pray for her to hang on a few more weeks.

Tortoises are actually really easy to tell the gender. If their belly is flat, it's a girl. If it is concave (scoops inward), it is a boy. We have a Russian tortoise that looks pretty similar. Her name is Oda.
